Wow, what a bad year for blog posts. It has been one of the busiest years in a long time for me so I guess this is my excuse. I do have a ton of pictures and stories from a couple of road-trips out west. Each place deserves its own post so before I got started, I felt it was good time to reevaluate John’sOcean s as blog.
Stay tuned, have some good ideas for out west places to visit – in a truck or van.
Best – John
A few weeks ago, I went on a road trip from Santa Cruz, California east across Nevada to Utah to visit Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef, Arches & Canyonlands parks, then to Arizona and National Monuments park. A lot of driving but will worth the journey.
2,800 miles in eight days. Nevada, Utah, Arizona. Turned off the radio after the first day for the remaining seven days of driving because it was just such an incredible, Mars like landscape you just wanted to look out the window in silence – for hours and hours and hours of noisy, bumpy, scary at times, desert adventuring. And really hot. Loved every minute.
Lost a beautiful remote control Corsair airplane flying in the mountains. Helicopters are better for forest flying, but had to give this fighter a try. After a successful takeoff it soared straight down the canyon never to be seen again. I had already mentally prepared myself for this event, but hummm… I liked that plane.
In preparation for an upcoming X2Engine software release in two weeks, Richard, Tony and I headed up the coast a few miles to make a short “About X2Engine” video. The idea was to hopefully capture both the spirit of X2Engine the software company but also our beautiful local Santa Cruz surroundings. Its a limited time, low budget, GoPro video project but I think it turned out alright.
